Gobert thrives with KAT despite slow start

While the Timberwolves are still off to a slow start, they are now turning the corner. The only question is whether Karl-Anthony Towns will be able to keep up the pace.

Rudy Gobert’s dance with the Timberwolves was bound be delicate as the team changed its play style to accommodate the defensive stalwart. Gobert is still a top-50 9-cat player despite what some consider a slow start.

He had one of his best performances of the season, in Minnesota’s win over Clippers on January 6. He was responsible for 25 points and 21 rebounds as well as 2 blocked shots. The field shot 11 of 15. Karl-Anthony Towns has missed 15 games since he injured his right leg on November 28. Average 14.0 points and 11.4 rebounds. 0.9 assists. 0.9 steals. 1.4 blocks. Shooting 72% on the field and 58% at the foul line.

These numbers aren’t very good, but they’re slightly better than Towns’s mark before his injury. Gobert scored 13.8 points per game on 64% shooting. Fantasy managers can hope that Gobert can improve on his performance against Clippers to continue playing before Towns returns at month’s end.
