Fed Chair Powell Tests Positive For Covid-19, Has Mild Signs

(Bloomberg) — Jerome Powell is the Federal Reserve Board Chair and was tested positive for Covid-19.

Powell, 69, received the positive test Wednesday and “is up to date with Covid-19 vaccines and boosters,” the Fed said in a statement, adding that he is working remotely while isolating at home.

The Federal Open Market Committee will meet again in January 31-February 1. After the meeting, Powell will hold an in-person press conference in Washington at 2:30 pm.

Covid-19 is a different landscape than before the pandemic. Most people have a combination immunity to infections or vaccinations. Antivirals are readily available for older adults and people with compromised immune systems.
