Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson faces charges for allegedly robbing a home of $200K worth of jewelry

Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson Police say that he faces several charges for allegedly robbing a New Jersey house of valuables and jewelry worth $200,000, along with another man.

Howell Township Police Department announced that Roberson and Dathan Thomson, both 32 years old, had been arrested. press release. Roberson’s arrest occurred during a traffic stop in Neptune during which he had been driving a vehicle that police believed to be connected to the robbery.

“A search of the vehicle revealed a defaced 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, several packages of suspected ‘crack cocaine,’ marijuana and items related to the burglary,” police said.

Roberson was charged with burglary and theft, criminal damage, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), criminal mischief, and a number of weapons offenses. Detective Ryan Jackson said MMA Fighting that Roberson spent “two or three weeks” in custody but was released.

Police say Roberson and Thompson forced open the rear door of the home and entered the master bedroom, where they are accused of stealing $200,000 in goods. The suspects were captured by the surveillance cameras inside and outside of the house, wearing masks.

Roberson could face up to 10 years of prison if convicted.

Roberson earned his UFC opportunity through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017 and made 10 appearances with the promotion, posting a 4-6 record. Roberson left the UFC after a losing streak of four fights, culminating in a TKO defeat to Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC on ESPN 39 last July.
