Japan’s Tatafu will join the French club Bordeaux-Begles

Japan No. Japan No.

Tatafu (27), was born in America Samoa. He moved to Japan for his high school studies.

Tatafu declared in a club statement, “I will take advantage of this opportunity and do all I can to show my growth by applying the Suntory Sungoliath knowledge,”

“I won’t think about the future, but I will do my best for this League One championship,” he said.

Sungoliath are currently third in Japan Rugby League One after three rounds. Tatafu will likely feature for his country at the Rugby World Cup, which begins on September 8.

“His departure will be a great loss for the team but I believe this will lead to him personal growth,” Naoya Okubo, Sungoliath’s coach, said.

“We are currently in League One. But, when the season ends, the Rugby World Cup in France 2023 will be held.

“We hope that he’ll take on challenges, and show us the extent to which he’s grown,” he said.
