Packers rookie class of 2022 was ranked middle in the pack in terms of production and value

The Green Bay Packers’ 2022 draft class is ranked 14th among NFL teams in production and value During the first season of ESPN.

The ranking focused primarily on production and used inputs from Sports Info Solutions, DVOA from Football Outsiders and ESPN’s player tracking metrics to establish a pecking order.

Quay Walker, Christian Watson, Christian Watson, and fourth-round selections Zach Tom, Romeo Doubs, were all important contributors to the Packers’ draft class. Kingsley Enagbare was fifth in the rankings.

The post highlighted Walker’s numbers from 2022:

Quay Walker, a first-round linebacker, had an outstanding year. He was one of only 11 rookies to earn more than 40 Total Points in the SIS metric. Walker recorded 121 total tackles and a 10% break tackle rate. This is outstanding for a rookie linebacker. Walker also allowed only 2.4 yards per target in coverage. Green Bay’s other defensive first-round pick, tackle Devonte Wyatt, played a much smaller role, seeing 22% of defensive snaps.

Walker was nothing short of productive his first season. healthy mix of good and bad.

Watson, Doubs, seventh-round pick Samori Toure all caught wide receiver for the Packers. They also threw 1,118 yards and scored 13 touchdowns. Tom saw nearly 500 snaps at four positions on the offensive line. Enagbare played seven games as an edge rusher and had eight quarterback hits. Tariq Carpenter, seventh round pick, became a productive special-teams player.

The class was likely dragged down due to Devonte Wyatt’s lack of playing time and the redshirt rookie season of third-round pick Sean Rhyan.

Other relevant information was also included in the post about a few other rookies.

Christian Watson was a wide receiver who really took off in the second half. He played every week from Week 8 to the end and caught 41 passes for 611 yard and seven touchdowns. It took him less than half of a season to catch 41 passes. He finished 20th out of 85 qualifying wide receivers in Football Outsiders’ receiving DVOA rating. Kingsley Enagbare (edge rusher) was a valuable contributor to the Packers. He started seven games, had three sacks with 23 pressures and Zach Tom (offensive lineman), had five starts at left tackle and guard.

These are the teams that ranked above the Packers, sorted from top to bottom: Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets. Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans. Houston Texans. Jacksonville Jaguars. Detroit Lions. New England Patriots. Pittsburgh Steelers. Dallas Cowboys. San Francisco 49ers.

Overall, this was a highly productive and valuable rookie class for the Packers, despite the fact that the rankings may suggest otherwise.
