Ty Law, Patriots legend, shared strong words of support for Damar Hamlin’s story

Ty Law, a New England Patriots Hall of Famer, shared his thoughts about Monday’s tragic collapse of safety Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills.

Hamlin was taken to the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest during the first quarter. heartbeat restored. He was then taken to Cincinnati’s hospital where he was fitted with a breathing tube. He is in critical condition.

The Bills-Bengals match was postponed and no make-up date has been established.

Law spoke on WEEI Tuesday morning to offer his perspective on Monday night’s events. He was shaken by the event and offered his unique perspective. as transcribed by Dakota Randall of NESN.com.

“I mean, you just feel for them because we’ve all been there,” Law said during his “The Greg Hill Show” interview. “Not in that capacity, but when someone gets carted off. I mean, the game doesn’t matter anymore. You can see it was just a routine play. And, I know I always say, I’m one of the main guys, ‘We know what we sign up for’ — but we don’t sign up for that. I can understand injuries. We break bones, we tear muscle, we get concussed. Certain things happen during a football game. We sign up for it.

“But that right there, that is something that no one wants to see. … The game becomes irrelevant. They did the right thing and cancelled the game. No one was going to go out there anyway. … I hope that he’s OK, that he’s recovering.”

At this point, the Patriots still have a scheduled visit to the Buffalo Bills Sunday. The NFL has not made any changes in the Week 18 schedule.
