Springbrook announces the appointment of new board members

Jan. 18—Springbrook has announced it added two new members to its board of directors.

According to a media release from SUNY Oneonta, Alberto J. F. Cardelle, President of SUNY Oneonta, and Mary Ann C. Krisa (a Rochester lawyer) joined the board in Dec.

“Dr. Cardelle, and Ms. Krisa have been champions for diversity and inclusion across disciplines during the course of the course of each their respective careers,” said the release.

Thomas Maggs is the president of the board. He said that it was an honor for him to join the board in this time of growth, expansion, and possibilities for the people he supports and our employees.

According to the release, Cardelle has a background in both public health policy as well as higher education. This will allow her to improve Springbrook’s health services and provide strong training opportunities for Springbrook providers via higher education.

According to the release Krisa “offers her professional development as a practicing lawyer and long-term professional in diversity equity and inclusion” and “has supported efforts for more diverse environments as an active participant of many committees, including her role at Cornell’s Diversity Committee Chair.” The Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission is dedicated to increasing diversity in New York State’s court system.

Krisa shared that she was impressed by Springbrook’s level of care, engagement, thoughtfulness, and professionalism when she visited it. I’m eager to learn more about Springbrook, the decisions made and how people work together in difficult situations.

The release stated that members of the Springbrook board are “engaged across disciplines and work towards a common goal, the betterment of people Springbrook supports.” “Moreover, the board oversees projects or initiatives that directly affect the lives of Springbrook’s beneficiaries.”

Patricia Kennedy, Springbrook CEO said that Dr. Cardelle is an excellent choice for Springbrook. They will each bring valuable knowledge about diversity, equity, inclusion and support our vision. Their experience in their respective fields will also help us to see the bigger picture.

Springbrook provides residential and educational services as well at-home care and day services. It also offers clinical, therapeutic and behavioral support for more than 1,100 people with developmental disabilities throughout New York. The release states that the organization is Otsego County’s number three employer with more than 1300 employees.
