Starbucks and DoorDash Expand Delivery Partnership

Today, Northern California, Texas and Georgia launch service. Store coverage is expected in all 50 States by March 2023.

SEATTLE & SAN FRANCISCO, January 17, 2023–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Starbucks Coffee Company (NASDAQ: SBUX) and DoorDash, Inc. (NYSE: DASH) announced the expansion of their partnership with new delivery service launching today in Northern California, Texas, Georgia, Florida and other select markets. DoorDash’s Starbucks delivery service will soon be available in additional markets. The full availability of the service is expected to be in all 50 US states by March 2023.

After a positive pilot in Atlanta, Houston and Sacramento and further market expansions in Seattle, Portland and New York City last yea, this expansion is now complete. DoorDash is the largest platform for local commerce in the United States and the partnership allows us to offer a delivery service that makes it easier to get Starbucks anywhere.

Convenience to Customers

Customers in the U.S. will have access to Starbucks delivery via DoorDash for iOS and Android, as well as DoorDash.com. These are the key features of the delivery program:

  • Prompt Delivery: DoorDash will deliver your order by a network of Dashers. They are designed to expedite and secure delivery, so you can get your Starbucks drink or food as soon as possible. DoorDash customers can track their orders from preparation to drop off.

  • Freshly Delivered: Starbucks has created packaging solutions to protect hot and cold menu items. This includes stickers for drinks to avoid spilling and tamper evident packaging.

  • Customization: DoorDash will have approximately 95% Starbucks core menu items. And just like at Starbucks, customers can personalize their orders using the DoorDash App. This includes the ability to select the type of milk, syrup and espresso roasts.

DashPass, DoorDash’s monthly membership program, provides customers ordering from Starbucks on DoorDash with $0 delivery fees and the lowest service fees available on each order of $12 or more. All other orders will be subject to standard delivery charges and service fees.
