Chargers’ playoff meltdown could be issue for Cardinals’ pursuit of Sean Payton

The Arizona Cardinals are searching for a new head coach. Sean Payton, former coach of the New Orleans Saints, is the number one target.

Payton was requested by the Cardinals to be interviewed. It would appear that the Cardinals would be Payton’s preferred spot, but there was a complication on Saturday.

Los Angeles Chargers lost a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars in round one of the playoffs. They were defeated 31-30 on the last play.

Some believe that could lead to coach Brandon Staley’s firing.

The Chargers, who have been a team of interest to Payton After a while, the team could be considered the favourites to land the Super Bowl-winning head coach.

As of Sunday morning, Payton is still the betting favorite to land the Cardinals’ job, but the Chargers’ job has not yet opened.

Payton’s hiring by the Chargers would be a bizarre surprise, considering the way the Cardinals last year.
